The Canine Pericardial Effusion Panel uses TK1 from serum and TK1 from pericardial fluid to determine if the source of the effusion is due to cancer. Neoplastic causes of PCE, particularly hemangiosarcoma, impart a significantly worse prognosis than non-neoplastic etiologies.
